As organ donor month approaches, OCFP member Dr. Martha Taylor of Kitchener speaks about the life-saving difference a donor has made in her family and what family doctors can do to support the Gift of Life.

April is organ donation month. Please consider having conversations about organ and tissue donation with your patients and your family. If you need materials or more information to support these conversations, email the Trillium Gift of Life Network and they will be happy to help.

Did you know?

  • 43% of Ontario physicians are registered - compared to 26% of Ontarians. 
  • One donor can save up to eight lives and enhance 75 more through the gift of tissue.
  • Register at BeADonor.ca. The website replaces the paper donor cards, and allows users to securely provide up-to-date information about their wishes. 
  • BeADonor.ca is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It only takes a few minutes to add or update your information and ensure that the information will be available when it is needed.
