OCFP CEO Retiring

A letter from OCFP President Dr. Glenn Brown

Dear Colleagues,

As President of the Ontario College of Family Physicians (OCFP), I am writing to let you know that the Board has accepted Jessica Hill’s decision to retire as CEO of our organization. After a long and distinguished career in government and leading non-profit health-care organizations, we fully support Jessica’s well-deserved retirement. I know we will miss her tireless commitment to advancing the mission of the organization.

Since starting in August 2013, Jessica has brought a new focus to the OCFP by leveraging its strengths and expanding programs and services for family physicians through high-quality continuing professional development, mentoring networks, and clinical tools. As we all recognize, Jessica is committed to collaboration and effective partnerships that advance family medicine and contribute to a stronger primary care foundation. She has relentlessly pursued the importance of meaningful family physician engagement and supporting members to continue to deliver excellence in patient care across Ontario. She is a tireless advocate of the Patient’s Medical Home, a needed vision for family medicine and primary care during these challenging times. The OCFP is grateful for Jessica’s strong representation of family physician voices at key provincial tables and initiatives.

Through Jessica’s exemplary leadership, the OCFP has a dedicated Board of Directors through enhanced governance processes, and a professional and competent staff team. While we will certainly feel a loss without Jessica at the helm, the Board is very confident that we will identify a high-calibre successor who can build on the accomplishments to date, and lead the OCFP in the development and implementation of its next Strategic Plan 2018-2021.

With this goal, a Board hiring committee has been established and we have retained an executive search firm to lead the recruitment of our next CEO. We aim to complete the search this summer.

The OCFP is a stronger organization with an enhanced reputation and a more solid foundation than was in place four years ago. We thank Jessica for her commitment to our 10,500 family physician members, and look forward to having our next CEO in place to take the Ontario College of Family Physicians into the future.

Sincerely,

Dr. Glenn Brown

President, OCFP
